A Message From Eliza Rideout

Hi friends! My name is Eliza Rideout and I was born with the most severe form of Spina Bifida- Myelomeningocele. Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly. I also have a VP Shunt that controls my Hydrocephalus (extra fluid on my brain). Due to the location of my neural tube defect, I’m unable to stand or walk independently but my wheelchair provides me the ability to play just like any other 4 year old! In April of this year, I had double hip surgery to correct my hip dysplasia in hopes that I will ambulate independently someday and with the help from my wonderful therapists at Little Lighthouse, I am hopeful that I will achieve that goal! It costs $20,000 per student each year to receive the education and therapy services that the Little Lighthouse offers, but thanks to people like you and this wonderful community, the families of Little Lighthouse students don’t pay a dime! This is such a blessing to us all!! Please consider donating to the Little Lighthouse today to help Eliza, the current students, and future students reach their goals!
